Poor Miss Sophie has FIVE teeth cutting through right now, one molar in each section and her last front tooth. She wakes up sometimes just holding her mouth and crying, it’s so heartbreaking! I think it’s time to find the mesh feeders again and pull the chamomile tea ice cubes out of the freezer. Oragel just doesn’t do the trick for her and I’m wary of the Hylands tablets. The chamomile really helped her in the past, though.

Remember the carrots she wouldn’t eat? I made more, peeling, cutting, and cooking the carrots myself like I did previously, but she still didn’t like them very much. It’s odd, because she likes table-food carrots now and liked Gerber carrots when she was just starting out eating baby food. I think it was a texture thing, honestly. She is particular about textures. This weekend, though, I tried something new with them. She eats cottage cheese with a puree mixed in, usually fruit or sometimes pumpkin. I warmed a cube of carrot puree that was left over and mixed that with cottage cheese for dinner on Saturday. She ate it right up! Finally – a use for all those carrots!

I don’t know if it’s her teething or being tired at the end of the day or what, but she’s not feeding herself well in the evenings right now. She will eat just fine if I feed her soft foods, or even table food, but if I give her finger food to eat in the evenings it all goes to the floor. She doesn’t even try to eat it! Breakfast, lunch, and snacks are fine usually, though, so maybe it’s just the teething. Thank goodness that is for a limited time.
